DIY Impeachments Give Kucinich "Encouragement to hang in there"

Hi, Impeachment Person:
Conyers agreed to hold hearings on the administration's illegality only on the condition that the hearings not be impeachment hearings and that names not be named. But lots of names have been named--especially by the pro-administration speakers--and everyone knows quite well that the real issue is impeachment. So it's a good time for us to plunge in again, this time with "Do It Yourself Impeachment."

You may note the Christopher Shays is one of the 9 Republicans who voted for impeachment. Shays has a pattern of voting for Bush, repression, and the military whenever it counts and for civil liberties and the constitution and peace whenever it doesn't. Because that vote came only after Conyers promised that he would not impeach, and hence that the vote would have no actual effect, I believe this should be taken as a ploy by which Shays means to put himself in a position to claim that he has a better record at defending the Constitution and civil liberties than his opposition. Be prepared for lots of obfuscation and backpeddling in the coming debates.

(If you're also on the campaign committee: you may be getting this email twice. My computer does not download the forwarded website's documents properly. If yours does, please download a set and bring it tomorrow night.)

Audio: DIY Impeachments Give Kucinich "Encouragement to hang in there"

Congratulations, you folks can take a share of credit in bringing about the congressional committee hearings on Bush's abuses of powers. Impeach for Peace sent Dennis Kucinich a huge box of Do-It-Yourself Impeachment Petitions from citizens like you across the country on July 14th, which in Kucinich's words along with other efforts gave him "a great deal of encouragement to hang in there." Regarding the Do-It-Yourself Petitions, Kucinich mentions:

"I just got a box of petitions yesterday, a full box that weighs about 25 pounds of petitions from all over the country of people who are demanding that the House take action."

Kucinich spoke on Alex Jones' Radio Show on July 23rd about the upcoming congressional committee hearing on Bush's abuses of power, and what efforts lead to the forming of that committee. He credits efforts like this ours with "opening the door" which gave us "for the first time a chance to talk about impeachment in front of a congressional committee."
